And it's really weird to me. She doesn't seem like she's a year old. I think it has something to do with her not walking, and that I rarely dress her in anything other than pajamas. Her birthday was on Monday.
She says "da!" and "buh." She points and says "bap," as if she knows exactly what she's talking about. She insists on us walking her around the house as she holds on to our fingers - she hasn't braved any independent steps yet, but my goodness, it brings her such joy to cruise around on her feet.
I nursed her for possibly the last time this morning, accomplishing my goal of breastfeeding for a year! We made it through a bad bout of thrush with multiple threats of it creeping back, and about a month ago she gave me a good bite, which was just as awful. The little stink. I don't despise nursing, but I'm not one that adores it, either. I am relieved to be finished.
Milk seems to be one of those "acquired tastes" for her. She's still getting used to it.
I was late setting up her one year well-child visit, so we won't be in there till late next month.
Justin took the day off and we had lunch at T.G.I. Friday's - the same thing we did on Avery's first birthday. It's a pretty stupid tradition since it's not even a kid place, but it was fun to reflect on everything that's gone on with us since Avery turned one.
We had Justin's brother's family and some friends over for cake and ice cream. At one point she picked up her cake with both hands, but when we laughed at her I think it spooked her so she stuck with daintily picking at the frosting. Her cake was my best attempt ever (which isn't saying much.) I was rushing to finish putting flowers on the sides before everyone showed up.
She got some great toys and cute outfits from friends and family. Thanks for thinking of her, everyone! :)
On another note, I'm finally putting some effort into selling my hats. I'm giving a couple away (one for a girl and one for a boy) on my other blog, so if you're interested or know anyone who would be, spread the word, will ya?
